So I’m learning lines for a scripted play for the first time in ages and I’ve come up with a secret tech.
Someone suggested to me that I record my lines and play them back to myself to remember them. I tried that, but nothing beats cold, hard repetition when it comes to learning words on a page.
I’ve pivoted the line recording idea and started recording what I call ‘cue tracks’. Basically, you record yourself reading everybody else’s lines, play back the recording, and then chime in with your own lines when you get your cue. Pause recording as necessary to give yourself time to speak.
Please let me know how you fare with your ‘cue track’ if you try this out.
